St Kieran, or St Ciaran, was a 6th century missionary who came to Kintyre and was one of the 'Twelve Apostles of Ireland'. He lived in a cave, Cove-a- Chiaran, and founded a great number of small churches throughout Kintyre, remains of some of which still exist. He came to be regarded as the apostle and the patron saint of all Kintyre.
St Kieran's cave can still be visited at low tide, and the design for this hand crafted gold Celtic pendant came from a carved boulder
within the cave itself.
